Joachim Forlani







Joachim Forlani, born in Lausanne in 1988, distinguished himself by winning national and international contests at a very young age; among others are the Special Prize of the 57th ARD Competition in Munich for the best interpretation of the commissioned piece and the First Prize at the International Marco Fiorindo Contest in Torino.

During his studies at the Lausanne High School of Music, he was also awarded the Paderewski Prize, as well as the Migros Kulturprozent Scholarship. Subsequently he continued his studies with Michel Lethiec, at the Conservatoire National de Région in Nice (France).

Joachim Forlani is the occasional solo clarinet of the Sinfonietta of Lausanne. For some years, he has been invited by Tugan Sokhiev also as solo clarinet with the Orchestre National du Capitole de Toulouse. He has furthermore performed as soloist with the Orchestra of the Lausanne Conservatory, the Philharmonic Orchestra Budweis, the Orchestra di Padova e del Veneto and the Philharmonic Orchestra Freiburg-im-Breisgau, among others.

Very active in his country as a soloist, Joachim Forlani is the founder of many chamber music ensembles like the Adler Trio, the Opera Viva Ensemble or the Cabaret 21 Ensemble, for which he wrote actually more than two hundred transcriptions of symphonic repertory. Some of these pieces are published in the Edition Musicales Billaudot (Paris).

His works have been played, amongst other places, at the Festival de Musique de Menton, at the Pau Casals Festival of Prades and at the Festival of the Young Musicians in Warsaw. As a composer, Joachim Forlani has written chamber music pieces, melodies for soprano and a lot of solo works and fantasies for clarinet.

He is also the Artistic Director of his own summer music festival in Switzerland, Les Musicales de Champex-Lac.
